Posted on 12/6/2018 11:32:43 AM

The PASSHE Faculty Professional Development Council’s Annual Grants Competition is back! Please see the Request for Proposals (RFP) for full details.

There will be only one FPDC grant competition this school year, 2018–19. There will be no separate competition for the Innovations in Teaching grants as there has been in past years. Rather, Category 4 has been returned to the annual grants competition request for proposals.

Faculty interested in applying for an annual grant from the PASSHE Faculty Professional Development Council are invited to submit proposals for consideration no later than Friday, January 4, 2019, at 12:00 p.m. (noon). Proposals can be submitted via the InfoReady Review competition.

Faculty may apply for grants up to $10,000 to support their research, teaching, and professional development in six proposal categories:

  • Joint Faculty-Student Basic or Applied Research (Category 1 A)
  • Scholarly Research: Basic or Applied (Category 1 B)
  • Joint Faculty-Student Public Service (Category 2)
  • Creative and Performing Arts (Category 3)
  • Innovation in Teaching in Student Learning Outcomes (Category 4)
  • Individual Career Enhancement in Off-Site Settings (Category 5)

Proposals must describe: the potential professional development benefits to be realized by the faculty member(s) in detail; the significance and impact of the project; and its intended outcomes.

Proposals will be reviewed by the IUP Faculty Professional Development Council, who will in turn select and forward 16 proposals for statewide consideration in late February. More information about the PASSHE Annual Grants Program (including previous grant awards) is available.

Questions regarding the development of proposals and budgets may be addressed to the IUP Research Institute. Contact Tracy Eisenhower, Sr. Grant and Contract Specialist, at tracye@iup.edu, or 7-1915. Questions about the RFP, on-campus review of proposals, or the local IUP-FPDC can be addressed to IUP-FPDC Chair, Lynanne Black, at lblack@iup.edu, or 7-2480.

The PASSHE-FPDC is also seeking faculty to serve as external grant proposal reviewers. There are many benefits to serving as a proposal reviewer, including seeing first-hand the winning elements of a selected grant proposals. If you are interested in serving as a reviewer, please send an email to lblack@iup.edu.
