Crimson Closet, Campus Project for Women, Opens Thursday

Leslie Coates and Malaika Turner were selected to attend the PASSHE Women’s Consortium Leadership Institute for Staff Women in May 2016. As a result of their attendance and participation in two days of workshops with other PASSSHE women, they were awarded a grant. The grant was to be used to create a campus project for women.

As a result, starting on Thursday, December 6, IUP will open its first Crimson Closet, which will store sanitary items for women who are unable to purchase these items or who run out of these items while on campus. The Crimson Closet will be fully stocked and is strategically located where women can appreciate privacy and discretion. It is located in Elkin Hall to the right of the main entrance facing Northern Suites and Weyandt Hall.

To sustain the Crimson Closet, the IUP Community is invited to donate packs/boxes of sanitary items, to help replenish the Crimson Closet. Contact Leslie Coates or Malaika Turner for more information on how to donate.
