Before leaving for Thanksgiving break, the Emergency Management Office has prepared a list of reminders to promote safety in the residence halls, administrative offices, and off-campus housing.

  • Unplug space heaters and lamps.
  • Discard all perishables and take out all trash/recyclables.
  • Secure your belongings, and take expensive items such as laptops or iPads with you.
  • Ensure that all windows and doors are locked.
  • When going to your vehicle, carry your keys in your hand and be ready to unlock the door and enter as quickly as possible. As you approach your vehicle, scan the area.
  • Vehicles being left on campus should be parked in a well-lit, designated overnight parking lot, and any visible values should be removed or stored out of sight or in the trunk. Also make sure all doors are locked and windows are closed.

Thanksgiving break, no school!Upon returning to campus, if you suspect suspicious activity or that a theft has occurred, call University Police at 724-357-2141. Remember, the University Police are ALWAYS open and are located at 850 Maple Street, University Towers.
