Professor of Anthropology and Director of the Mid-Atlantic Research and Training Institute for Community and Behavioral Health Victor Garcia served as a reviewer in October for the National Institutes of Health’s Health Disparities and Equity Promotion study section. He joined the study section as a standing member in June 2018.

Prior to his nomination, he was an ad hoc member for three years. As a study section member, he reviews several R series funding grant proposals three times a year—in February, June, and October. Garcia was also a standing member of the Community Influences on Health Behavior study section from 2008-2012. Selection criteria for study section membership is based on success in being awarded NIH grants, public health research, and a strong publication record.
