Currents is a spectacular show that was inspired by the historical Battle of Currents between Thomas Edison and Nikola Tesla in their quest for finding energy sources for the world. The show—performed by Mayumana, which combines the best of Blue Man Group and Stomp—will be at the Kovalchick Convention and Athletic Complex on Tuesday, March 12, at 8:00 p.m.
Tickets start at $18 and go on sale Friday, November 2, at 10:00 a.m. Tickets can be purchased at IUPtix.com, charged by phone at 1-800-514-3849, or bought at the KCAC Box Office located at 711 Pratt Drive, Indiana, PA 15701. For additional information, please visit the newly redesigned KCAC website.
Audience members will be taken on a journey between two troops, each representing a different view of the essence of light and electricity and each inspired by a different aesthetic and artistic approach, all of which are presented as a dialogue, through unique sounds, lights, and visual effects.
The show combines a variety of elements: specially made musical instruments, massive video art projections that include video mapping on the walls of the Old City of Jerusalem, and 11 skilled performers in constant movement, playing on different instruments and musically juggling between different sounds.
With performers from more than 20 different nationalities, Mayumana has become one of Israel’s leading cultural exports. It has entertained millions of people around the world with its international touring cast, as well as in its home theater, the Mayumana House, located at the old harbor of Jaffa.
IUP students, faculty, and staff can save on select tickets at the KCAC Box office with their I-Card.
