The Research Institute team wants to
generously thank all 143 people who supported the research endeavors at IUP by attending the 2018 Researchers’ Reception at the Hilton Garden Inn. We think it went very well and hope you all took the opportunity to make
new friends and discuss collaborations on a scholarly activity. If you were not able to join us, we will give you another opportunity next year.
And, of course, we want to announce the winner and runner-up of the Crimson Cup Challenge! As you are all aware, the Cup Challenge is a competition among the academic colleges to earn ownership (for the year) of the Crimson Cup, up to $2,000 in research
support funds, and, most importantly—Bragging Rights.
First place is based on percent of attendance (weighted 50 percent), and the percent increase (or decrease) in the number of proposals and awards (weighted 25 percent each). Base employee numbers in each college were obtained from the Office
of Human Resources and verified by each college dean.
Second place goes to the college with highest number of attendees (no math involved).
And the winners of the 2018 Researchers' Reception Crimson Cup Challenge are (insert your own drum roll here)...
Congratulations to Dean Dave Ferguson and his team for their collective efforts with proposals, awards, and attendance. Fine Arts will re-take ownership (for the year) of the Cup and receive up to $2,000 in research/scholarship support. The Cup will be
