The third annual Cyber Security Seminar on October 5, 2018, was a great success, with 227 people that attended the full-day event. It was co-hosted by the IUP Office of Extended Studies, S&T Bank, and Infragard.
Executive Director Calvin Slegal from Ernst &Young was the keynote speaker and presented “Organizational Cybersecurity Risk and Control Considerations.” Speakers Evan Dornbush (Point 3), Michelle Pirtle (FBI/Infragard), and James Kitchen (Jones Day) addressed a capture the flag exercise and introduction to reverse engineering, our role in cybersecurity, insider threats, and GDPR and data privacy concerns during the morning sessions.
Mike Stamas (Grey Castle Security), Leia Shilobod (InTech Solutions, Inc.), Gary Johnson (ISM), Jeff Fazek (Varonis), Sam Cattle (Rolta Advizex), and Bora Caliskan (CyberCrunch) rounded out the afternoon sessions, addressing the real cost of cybersecurity, why and how to create a cybersecurity program, dealing with technical and human vulnerabilities, the future of cybersecurity, planning for resilience, and asset disposition.
A panel of experts from IUP, UPMC, Dick’s Sporting Goods, National Center for Defense Manufacturing and Machining, and BNY Mellon answered questions from the audience.
