The University Museum at Indiana University of Pennsylvania will
host its annual gala on Saturday, October 27, 2018, at 6:00 p.m. in John Sutton
Hall. The theme for this event is
Please join us for Halloween this year and mingle with spooks and
friendly spirits alike. Come prepared
for a night of madness at the University Museum’s Haunted Gala. Bring some guests and weave a magic
spell. Guests are invited to don
creative costumes to wine and dine from the hour of 6:00 until well after 9:00.
The gala evening will start at 6:00 p.m. with cocktails and hors
d’oeuvres in the University Museum, where guests can enjoy the last day of the
Art Faculty Triennial Exhibition. This
exhibition features recent works by current faculty members in the IUP
Department of Art. It includes a wide
variety of media, from painting and graphic design, to sculpture and
woodworking, and more.
Following the Museum reception, guests (i.e., creatures,
characters, and scary spooks) will move to the Blue Room for a sumptuous dinner
of steak, Cajun turkey, and pasta. Following the feast, madness continues with a live band and a haunted
dance performance by the ghouls and ghosts of the IUP Dance Theater. All this, plus both silent and live auctions
of treats, from paintings by Ron Donoughe and Mark Altrogge, to a Sabika
jewelry box, to a hand-crafted table runner. You can linger with fellow ghouls and dance the night away to the music
of IUP’s Little Big Band.
The University Museum never charges admission to its exhibits and
educational events, and survives solely on gifts and grants, plus proceeds from
the annual gala. Gala funds provide
needed support for the Museum Board’s ongoing art restoration projects,
community outreach efforts, and educational directives.
Reservations are required for this memorable evening of madness
and mayhem. Reservations are $125 per
person and can be made by October 19, 2018. Reservations can be made online at the IUP Marketplace. The invitation and reservation card are also
available online at the University Museum website and on the
Museum’s Facebook page, University Museum at IUP. For additional information, please contact Audrey Swartz, Department of Art, at 724-357-2530, or e-mail email@example.com.
