The Eberly College of Business and Information Technology at Indiana University of
Pennsylvania launched its new doctoral
program in business on Saturday, September 8, 2018, at IUP Pittsburgh East.
This is the only business
doctoral program in the region that is designed specifically for working
professionals. It offers the academic rigor of a traditional PhD as well as the
flexibility of Saturday classes.
The inaugural cohort is comprised of 26
students from Pennsylvania, Washington, DC, Virginia, and abroad. The group
represents a diverse set of professional backgrounds that include education, manufacturing,
health-care, banking and finance, engineering, research, accounting, information
technology, and management consulting. More than half the students in the cohort
have prior teaching experience in several local colleges and universities.
The doctoral coursework will
last for two years, followed by comprehensive exams and a doctoral dissertation.
Students are scheduled to pursue specializations and conduct research projects
under the guidance of Eberly faculty in areas such as accounting, supply chain
management, information systems, international business, marketing, finance,
and entrepreneurship. The Eberly College is accredited by AACSB International,
the premier accrediting body for business schools worldwide.
“This is an exciting time for
the IUP Eberly College of Business and Information Technology” said Robert
Camp, dean of IUP’s business school. “The addition of a PhD in business adds stature
to IUP and to the Eberly College of Business and Information Technology as we
join the ranks of the other 14 doctoral programs offered by IUP. I appreciate
the efforts of the faculty who helped to develop the curriculum, the support of
the Provost’s Office, and the work of our faculty and administrative team for
proposal development, promotion, and recruitment for the program. Dr. Michael
Kosicek, program coordinator for the PhD in Business, has done an excellent job
in working on the details of the program and with each new student. We have an
outstanding first cohort, and I am pleased that they will have the opportunity
to work together with our excellent faculty over the next several years.”

program, please contact the IUP PhD in Business Doctoral Program coordinator, Michael Kosicek, at email@example.com or visit the PhD in Business website.
