Floods are the most common and costly natural disaster in the United States. Are you protected? Check your insurance policy today.

Immense rains are causing more flooding in our areas than usual and flooding can be an emotionally and financially devastating event. Just one inch of water can cause $25,000 in damage to your home.

Things to Know and Do Before the Flood

  • Most homeowners’ and renters’ insurance does not cover flood damage.
  • Reduce the risk of damage from flooding by elevating critical utilities, such as electrical panels, switches, sockets, wiring, appliances and heating systems.
  • Take photos and videos to conduct a household inventory, and keep a record of all major household items and valuables. These documents are critically important when filing insurance claims.
  • Learn if you live, work or travel through areas that are prone to flooding.
