The Kovalchick Convention and Athletic Complex is now hiring all part-time staff positions for the fall semester. We are looking for hardworking individuals who want to get involved in working before, during, and after the variety of events that KCAC holds.

Event Staff

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work one of the following positions: Ticket Taker, Usher, Security, or Parking.
  • Enthusiastically greet and direct guests while performing assigned tasks (i.e., ticket scanning, directing guests to their seats, providing directions).
  • Provide KCAC guests with accurate event and venue information.
  • Identify and respond to emergencies according to emergency protocols. Involve event supervisor or manager as needed.
  • Proactively approach guests that may have an issue and/or complaint.
  • Creatively resolve issues/complaints and involve event supervisor or manager as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
  • Must be able to work outside in any weather conditions (Parking and Security).
  • Work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Skills and Abilities

  • Experience in prior customer service preferred.
  • Demonstrated strong customer service skills.
  • Must have a friendly disposition and a smile.
  • Must be able to stay calm in stressful, fast-paced situations.
  • Experience dealing effectively with conflict.
  • Ability to work in a variety of environments, including, but not limited, to darkened corridors, around crowds, loud noise, flashing lights, and haze effects.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.

Housekeeping Staff

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Operate cleaning equipment and use cleaning products and sanitary supplies to maintain the building in a clean and safe environment for our customers, patrons, and employees.
  • Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors, corridors, halls, and stairwells. Clean bathrooms, including sinks, toilets, floors, walls, mirrors, etc. Restock sanitary supplies such as toilet paper, paper towels, and hand soaps. Clean other assigned areas such as offices, locker rooms, suites, and stands after sporting/concert events.
  • Maintain open communication with supervisor at all times.
  • Maintain a professional attitude and appearance at all times.
  • Perform other related duties or tasks as assigned or as become evident.

Skills and Abilities

  • Must be able to work in a team environment as well as independently with minimal supervision.
  • Must have ability to take/follow directions and remain flexible and adjust to situations as they occur.
  • Strong attention to detail and follow through with a “can do” attitude.
  • Must be able to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

Operations Staff

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist with converting arena from one function to another (i.e., basketball to concerts, theater, meetings, and other types of functions).
  • Assist with converting conference rooms from one function to another (i.e., conferences, banquets, meetings and other types of functions).
  • Follow directions of supervisors; set up and break down stages, seating, tables, conference rooms, etc.
  • Perform light cleaning and housekeeping duties as assigned.
  • Follow all safety precautions and emergency procedures established at the facility. Report any safety and damage concerns to the manager.

Skills and Abilities

  • Must be able to work in a team environment as well as independently with minimal supervision.
  • Must have ability to take/follow directions and remain flexible and adjust to situations as they occur.
  • Strong attention to detail and follow through with a “can do” attitude.
  • The employee must frequently move and/or lift 50 lbs. (some heavier lifts are team lifts).

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to move around the facility; to stand for long hours during events; to talk and hear. This position may require work inside or outside of the building, as needed by events.
