Todd Nathan Thompson, associate professor of English and assistant chair of English, took part in the “Pacific Intersections” seminar (led by Hsuan Hsu) at the C-19: Society of Early Americanists biennial conference on March 24 in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Thompson's seminar paper, titled “‘[W]hat you tink now? Didn’t our people laugh?’: Pacific Humor as Resistance,” outlined potential tactics and associated models for doing responsible scholarship on the comic agency of nineteenth-century Pacific Islanders.
