Don Robertson, emeritus professor of Psychology, will present a research colloquium, titled “Nature and Well-Being,” on Friday, April 20, at 3:30 p.m. in 111 Uhler Hall.
Prof. Robertson’s talk will highlight studies suggesting that natural environments have special benefits ranging from stress inoculation to increased social cohesion. Creation and preservation of natural environments is more than an aesthetic choice—it is an important component of physical and psychological well-being.
In this presentation, the benefits of nature for wellness, implications for planning, and the impact of loss of natural environments will be discussed, with a focus on the empirical basis of these claims.
