From April 6 to April 8, a few members of the American Marketing Association attended their annual spring professional development trip to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The goal of this trip is to improve their professional development by speaking with a
variety of different companies, while bonding with other members in the organization. It was truly a wonderful weekend for the members of AMA in boosting their professionalism, learning more about their major, and becoming closer with their peers.
They got the opportunity to speak with the marketing departments at PPG Paints, Marc USA, and Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership. These particular companies all have different backgrounds, so the members said it was amazing to hear about how they incorporate
their marketing strategies into their business. At all three companies, the students learned a great amount about the marketing industry, where the field is going, and how they use marketing through each of their jobs. Because marketing is such a
broad field, there are many different opportunities and routes our students are able to follow; they learned about three different routes this weekend.
The members were able to sit down and have a wonderful meal at a restaurant located in Mount Washington, called Vue 412, that overlooked the city of Pittsburgh. It was time for the members to relax and have a good time with their peers. They said the
food was amazing, and they were all so excited to be able to visit with everybody over such a great meal with a beautiful view!
They were also able to attend Carnegie Science Center, where some of the members rock climbed for the first time. They got to learn about robotics, anatomy, aquatic life, and much more. They got to explore the inside of a submarine and see how small the
living quarters are under the water.
A member said, “It was such a neat experience to see how much the Carnegie Science Center has developed since the last time I was there, when I was eight years old.”
