IUP Students Take the Lead Promoting Safety and Respect

Student organizations are coming together to lead an initiative to spread messages throughout the Indiana community this weekend. The messages focus on smart choices, respect, and safe intervention. Hear more about the initiative from participating staff and students in this video.

The #IUPLeads initiative, created by the Office of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Other Drugs (ATOD), will take place from March 19 until March 24, 2018. Student organizations must register to be a part of the initiative and complete tasks. If the participating organizations complete enough tasks, they are eligible to receive funds that they may use towards their group's philanthropy. Tasks include: attend a sign-making workshop, write messages in chalk on sidewalks around campus and town, post messages on social media, refrain from selling t-shirts with inappropriate messaging, and hand out water on Saturday, March 24.

Questions about #IUPLeads may be directed to Ann Sesti, director of IUP ATOD, at annsesti@iup.edu.

#IUPLeads supports the efforts of the Indiana Area Collaborative Team to help mitigate and prevent large and out-of-control gatherings and to encourage respect for our community.
