#LifeGoals: Students Use Instagram as Health Coach Tracker

To meet their health and nutrition goals, students in Taylor Jones’ Current Issues in Nutrition and Wellness (FDNT 143) course use Instagram as an easy way to track their progress.

Students in the Current Issues in Nutrition and Wellness courseThis project’s goal is to involve students in their own health by asking them to set SMART goals which relate to their health or nutrition needs. SMART goals are Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic, and Timely. A SMART goal might be: “To exercise more, I will do yoga three times a week for at least 10 minutes, and walk at least three times per week for 30 minutes.”

Students post pictures on Instagram to track their progress throughout the week. Students are posting pictures of their walks, plates full of fruit, full-then-empty water bottles, and some delicious looking packed lunches! This project is designed to create health and nutrition habits that support a sustainable, healthy life. Check out their progress and posts by searching the hashtag #FDNT143 on Instagram.
