Acclaimed French pianist Lise de la Salle will make her debut in Indiana as part of the Ovations!
Series presented by the Lively Arts at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Her performance begins at 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 20, in Gorell Recital Hall,
located on the second floor of Sutton Hall.
Regarded as one of the most exciting young artists in classical music, the 29-year-old has played with the world’s leading orchestras and conductors while building a reputation as a musician of uncommon sensibility and maturity. This talented performer
has been called “a musical thinker of impressive weight, with charm, imagination, and a dazzling technique” by the Washington Post. A native of France, de la Salle first came to international attention in 2005 at the age of 16 with a Bach/Liszt
recording that was selected as Recording of the Month by Gramophone Magazine. de la Salle, who records for the Naïve label, was then similarly recognized in 2008 for her recording of Liszt’s, Prokofiev’s, and Shostakovich’s first concertos.
de la Salle has
played with many of the world’s leading orchestras and conductors. She has performed twice with the London Symphony Orchestra, debuting with Fabio Luisi and returning to the Orchestra with Antonio Pappano. Luisi, who had invited her to become the
first Artist-in-Residence of the Zurich Opera in 2014, has also frequently featured de la Salle with the Vienna Symphony, including a performance in New York on the Great Performers Series at Lincoln Center.
In recent seasons, de la Salle has been heard with leading symphonic ensembles in London, Paris, Munich, and Tokyo. In North America, de la Salle has played with the symphony orchestras in Boston, Chicago, Houston, Philadelphia, New Jersey, Baltimore,
Minnesota, Detroit, Toronto, San Francisco, and the Los Angeles Philharmonic as well as with the National Symphony in Washington, DC. She has worked with such esteemed conductors as Fabio Luisi, Ludovic Morlot, James Conlon, Osmo Vänskä, James Gaffigan,
and Douglas Boyd.
