The Department of Theater and Dance at Indiana University of Pennsylvania brings Sarah DeLappe’s Pulitzer-nominated debut play The Wolves to the stage. Directed by Carrie Cole, the performances will run February 22–24 and February 28–March 3 at 8:00 p.m. and February 25 at 2:00 p.m. on the Waller Hall Mainstage on the IUP campus.

Line-up of soccer balls for "The Wolves"The Wolves tells the story of a high school women’s indoor soccer team that navigates big life questions and wages tiny battles with all the vim and vigor of a pack of adolescent warriors.

“I first read The Wolves while it was still in manuscript form, and was captivated by how DeLappe beautifully orchestrates the rhythms of teenage language,” said director Cole, adding; “There’s a poetry to both the words and the movement that mirrors the staccato growth of awareness of young women facing the challenges of balancing their growth in maturity and individuality while still being a cohesive member of a team.

“We are excited to be among the first to present The Wolves and be a part of creating more space for women’s voices to be heard on US stages.”

The performances at IUP are among the first internationally of this critically acclaimed new work, according to play publisher Samuel French, Inc. In addition to its Pulitzer nomination, the production was hailed as “one of the year’s best plays” in the New York Times. It also has received a Drama Desk Award, an Obie Ensemble Award, and the American Playwriting Foundation’s inaugural Relentless Award.
