On January 26, 2018, the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics’ New Science Building Committee met with the design architectural team from
Perfido, Weiskopf, Wagstaff, and Goettel. The project goals, timeline, meeting schedule, and working meeting agendas were discussed. The target date for the opening of the building is planned for February 2020.

During the design phase, each department in the college has building committee representatives who will represent their interests. These representatives will report out to their departments and will provide departmental feedback to the New Science Building
Committee comprised of NSM faculty, staff, IUP Engineering and Construction, and Advancement personnel who will collaborate extensively to prepare for this exciting task.
Frederick Adkins, Department of Mathematics, is the faculty building shepherd for the New Science Building project. In the next month, each department will meet directly with the architects to discuss departmental needs. Main goals of the design phase
are determining the building and user requirements, and establishing the facility’s size, function, configuration, spaces, the operation and use of equipment, and the materials for all the principal building structures and systems.
