From November 30 to December 2, 2017, IUP Theater professor Rob Gretta taught three workshops filled with Pennsylvania high school students (up to 30 students in each workshop) interested in acting and musical theater.

The Educational Theatre Association is a national nonprofit organization with approximately 100,000 student and professional members. The Pennsylvania Chapter’s mission is shaping lives through theater education by: honoring student achievement in theater and enriching their theater education experience; supporting teachers by providing professional development, networking opportunities, resources, and recognition; and influencing public opinion that theater education is essential and builds life skills.

At the request of several Pennsylvania thespian troop leaders, Gretta again taught his “What is Your type?” workshop designed to teach high school acting and musical theater performers how to determine their casting type, how to choose music and monologues based on that type, and how to utilize this information in order to get the callback and the role. He also was a judge for Individual Events in Musical Theater (solo and duet) performance as well as Design/Tech/Management.
