Internationally Acclaimed Pianist Tiu Performs at IUP

Prize-winning pianist and associate professor at Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music (National University of Singapore) Albert Tiu performed a solo recital at IUP in Gorell Hall on Monday, November 13.

Albert TiuBorn in the Phillipines, Albert Tiu received degrees in the United States from the Juilliard School and Boston Conservatory. He has won prizes at international piano competitions in Calgary (Esther Honens), Helsinki (Maj Lind), and Santandar (Paloma O’Shea), including first prize at the 1996 UNISA International Piano Competition in Pretoria, South Africa. He has released recordings on the Centaur, Meridien, and Decca labels.

Prof. Tiu’s program was titled “Chopin: before and beyond,” and explored works by Chopin, his contemporaries, and works that were influenced by Chopin.
