Valerie Baroni, director of Housing and Dining, has been selected as a participant in the 2018 Senior Housing Officer Institute through the Association of College and University Housing Officers, International.
According to ACUHO-I, the institute:
“… is one of the most prestigious experiences offered by ACUHO-I. Senior housing officers actively engage in learning experiences to improve their skills and knowledge so that they may have a lasting impact on their campus communities.”
Highlighting the four-day program are sessions on the ACUHO-I Core Competencies and Knowledge Domains. Institute faculty are more senior housing, facilities and student affairs professionals, as well as select industry partners, that are competitively selected for their passion and expertise in identified SHO focus knowledge domains. Institute faculty facilitate individual sessions in an executive-learning format, using a variety of active learning strategies including presentations, case studies, group work, discussions, debates, etc., to assist participants in mastering the curriculum. Additionally, faculty facilitate small groups in application reflection and assist participants in individual reflection on their experiences during the Institute.”
Baroni is a 2007 IUP graduate of the Student Affairs in Higher Education master’s program and has worked with the Office of Housing, Residential Living, and Dining for approximately nine years and served as director of Housing and Dining for the past one-and-a-half years.
