The Department of English is looking for current juniors, seniors, or graduate students who are interested in shaping the Crimson Quill, a student-run publication that publishes texts written by undergraduate students in their Liberal Studies English classes: English 100 (Basic Writing), English 101 (English Composition I), English 121 (Humanities Literature), and English 202 (English Composition II).

Current English and Communication/Media students are highly desired and are encouraged to apply for an Editorial Team position. The position will be on a volunteer basis. The Editorial Team will report to the Editor of the Crimson Quill, to the Director of Liberal Studies English (LSE), and to the LSE Committee.

Working primarily with the Editor of the Crimson Quill, the Editorial Team’s responsibilities will likely include:

  • Communicating with the Editor;
  • Meeting monthly with the Editor and the rest of the Editorial Team;
  • Reading LSE student submissions;
  • Assisting the Editor with assembling, organizing, and formatting submissions in preparation for press release;
  • Marketing he Crimson Quill and key content through social media outlets, such as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram; and
  • Upholding the Mission of the Crimson Quill, as determined by the LSE Committee.

We anticipate that Editorial Team members will need to devote 2–4 hours a week, with more time right before and after an issue is published.

Applications for this position should include:

  • A 1–2 page statement that summarizes your interest in the position and explains how you are a responsible individual;
  • A Work Reference form, signed by a boss or instructor, who can attest to your reliability and work ethic; and
  • A Curriculum Vitae or Resume.

Send applications for the Crimson Quill Editorial Team by Sunday, October 22, 2017 (Deadline extended!) to TCQ-Publication@iup.edu.

Initial queries related to this call should be directed to either Marissa McKinley (m.c.mckinley@iup.edu), Assistant Writing Program Administrator, or Dr. Bryna Siegel Finer (brynasf@iup.edu), Director of Liberal Studies English and Writing Across the Curriculum.
