Medical transcription offers you the opportunity to have an at-home career in the growing medical industry. The Office of Extended Studies offers two online, noncredit, self-paced, career-training program options in medical transcription. Students can
choose from medical transcriptionist or medical transcription editor.

A medical transcriptionist will type the audio dictation of doctor-patient interactions to create a record for the patient’s medical file. We also offer medical transcription editor who corrects and edits dictation reports created by speech recognition
software, which electronically translates dictations into text.
The IUP Office of Extended Studies, in partnership with CareerStep, is offering this noncredit certificate program for adults seeking to prepare for a career
in medical transcription.
