Supporting and Responding to Students’ Concerns

While the start of every new academic year is both hopeful and challenging, this fall, students, new and continuing, may be particularly concerned about national news, life-threatening weather, and acts of incivility and racism on our campus.

To assist you as you respond to students with concerns, know that academic a-deans in the student’s college or other members of the Concern and Response Team (CART) are a resource for you. The CART website has links to both relevant policies and the list of CART members. Contact a member of CART for more information; Rhonda Luckey (, vice president for Student Affairs; or Dan Burkett (, dean’s associate.
