The English Department and English Education Program will host the mini-conference “Thinking Like a Teacher: Preparing New Teachers for Today’s Classrooms” on Thursday, November 2, 5:00–6:30 p.m. in room B03 in the Humanities and Social Sciences Building.
Renowned teacher educator Janet Alsup, from Purdue University, will deliver the keynote address, which will be followed by round-table discussions led by English Education faculty and program graduates.
The conference coincides with publication of
Thinking Like a Teacher: Preparing New Teachers for Today's Classroom, a collection of novice teacher narratives co-edited by Jo-Anne Kerr and Linda Norris, featuring stories written by IUP English Education Program graduates about the challenges
that new teachers face and who to successfully meet these challenges.
All education majors and program coordinators are invited to attend the conference, which will be followed by a reception and refreshments.
