Mandatory Annual Employee Training: Title IX and Protection of Minors

Posted on 8/1/2017 7:52:02 AM

In compliance with federal and state laws, all employees and university-related personnel must complete annual Title IX and Protection of Minors training. Beginning this academic year, ALL employees, including student workers and affiliates/contractors/units/centers, are required to complete the training online.

Time during work hours and computer access are to be provided by each division, college, or department in order for all personnel to meet their requirement. Supervisors of all student workers should be sure that their students have completed both of the trainings as well.

E-mails will be sent from the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education, with the subject of “Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education Online Training,” on or about Wednesday, August 16, 2017. Do not delete this e-mail when it arrives. Both training courses are to be accessed through this one e-mail. You will have 30 days to complete the trainings. The courses are titled “Intersections: Preventing Harassment and Sexual Violence” and “EDU: Protect Children (Pennsylvania).” You must complete both courses.

Please note that each e-mail and access link are individualized to each employee so that course completion can be correctly recorded electronically in SAP. You can not forward or share e-mails/links, as only the person who received the e-mail will get credit for completion. Training is interactive and self-paced. You can start and leave a course as often as needed. When you return, the course will open to the last page visited.

You will have an opportunity to print a training certificate after completing each session, which you should keep for your records. You do not need to forward these certificates to administrators, as your course completion will be electronically recorded. Once you’ve completed the training sessions, you may retain your customized link. The sessions will remain available as a reference throughout the year.

Once you have completed both trainings, please download (pdf) and keep the 2017–18 Where to Turn for Help/Title IX brochure.

Please read the training FAQ. If you have further questions about the training requirement, please contact Karen Mathe in the Office of Social Equity at Questions about IUP’s Title IX policy and protocol should be directed to Sondra Dennison, interim Title IX coordinator, at 724-357-3402 or
