Award-winning filmmaker and Communications Media faculty
member Jeremy Waltman brought his latest project to Indiana this summer.
Filming has just wrapped on Waltman’s most recent project, a
short film titled Blairsville, using an Indiana Borough home as the
Waltman led the film crew that included cinematographers,
actors, and other crewmembers who have been part of major television and film
productions, including Dexter, Apollo 13, The Walking Dead, and Nashville.
Waltman is seen in this photo, directing actor Joseph Culp from Mad Men.
Several Communications Media students were part of the filmmaking
process, serving as production assistants. Senior Sam Owoc served as a line producer and
intermediary for Waltman and his co-producer.
Owoc saw this as an opportunity that doesn’t come along very often. “The
coolest part is being able to see how production is actually done. I’ve done
productions in the past and never really had a good understanding of how it
worked, so getting to see a professional production compared to those was
amazing,” Owoc said. The film also
received support from IUP’s Department of Theater and Dance.
Blairsville is a horror-thriller about a woman who moves
to a small town for her career, but things don’t go as planned. The film is slated for a 2018 release, with
plans for submission to film festivals and a possible video on demand release.
