Footlight Players youth theater program begins its 13th year offering creative opportunities for young people to create theater and musical theater. For four weeks—starting June 19, Mondays through Fridays from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.—“Players” get to act, sing, and dance, of course, plus they can build, paint, sew, light, and write.
Half of each day is spent in rehearsals for productions, and the other half in creative workshops. This is “theater for everyone,” and many discover skills they never knew they had.
Players are supported, taught, and rehearsed by a staff of teaching artists from IUP, as well as from Baltimore, Chicago, and New York.
Registration is open until the first day.
This year’s musicals are Fiddler on the Roof and Aladdin. The plays are an adaptation of the ancient comedy The Birds, and a yet unscripted play to be developed by our youngest Players.
Registration is taken online at the link found on the Footlight Players webpage.
