Carlyn Brecht has been selected as a participant in the Maryland Sea Grant’s Research Experience for Undergraduates.
Carlyn will be working with Laura Lapham at the Chesapeake Biological Laboratory conducting methane research within the Chesapeake Bay. The program allows Carlyn the opportunity to network with the scientific community as well as attend workshops to help prepare me for the next steps in her career.
The
Maryland Sea Grant’s REU is a summer research program that provides 15
research opportunities to undergraduate students. The students work through a 12-week
course with professors from the University of Maryland at two different
research labs. This program allows students from different STEM majors to
complete marine research on the Chesapeake Bay. REUs are often very competitive with acceptance rates lower than those found in medical schools.
Congratulations, Carlyn, we know you will have fun this summer!
