Professor Carrie J. Cole has just returned from the
International Conference for the Fantastic in the Arts where she presented her
paper titled, “Re-historicizing the Uncanny: Rossum, Embodiment, and Mac
Roger’s Universal Robots,”
which discussed specific acting techniques used to render the actor’s body as
She also once again produced and directed the Annual Flash Play
Festival, five ten-minute plays selected from scripts submitted by
award-winning authors and playwrights and performed before a standing-room-only crowd of over 100 attendees.
Professor Cole is a dramaturg and holds a unique faculty position in the department as a specialist in Integrative Arts. Her recent production of The Electriad was devised in co-creation with an ensemble of actors, designers, and technicians exploring the consequences of war on the home front, by the warrior, and by the displaced.
