Native American Two Spirit Presenter on Campus March 22

The IUP Native American Awareness Council will host a lecture by Carrie House, a Two Spirit Navajo and Oneida filmmaker, on Wednesday, March 22, 2017. The presentation, “Native Two Spirits in Contemporary Perspective,” will take place at 6:30 p.m. in the Humanities and Social Sciences building, room B-11. 

Carrie House House is a presenter of social justice, LGBTQ2, and cultural and environmental issues. A writer and co-founder of the Gallup Film Foundation, House has screened films at the American Indian Film Festival, Boston LGBT Film Festival, Queer Women of Color Film Festival, and the Native American Indigenous Studies Association Symposium.

House states, “Through multi-mediums, I am able to preserve queer indigenous oral traditions. As director, producer, writer, art director, and editor, I’ve been able to explore my indigenous cultures, my male voice, and visions gifted to me by First Man and First Woman.”
