In her capacity as a co-chair of the National Council of Teachers of English’s American Indian Caucus, Resa Crane Bizzaro (English) was invited to Washington, D.C. to help assess, accept, and organize proposals for the November 2017 conference of the NCTE.
About 15 English Studies professionals from across the U.S. met to complete these tasks and filled out the conference program in areas that included College English, Primary and Secondary English, and Professional Development. Proposals were evaluated and placed into a variety of presentation methods, including classroom demonstrations, panel discussions, roundtable meetings, and poster sessions.
Bizzaro was a member of the Rainbow Strand Committee; that group is responsible for ensuring diversity among presenters and topics. During the meeting, Bizzaro was one of only two evaluators invited to speak during a special presidential session organized by Jocelyn Chadwick, NCTE president.
