Gomez and Smith provided an intense, six-hour training which focused on best practices for hearing members; trauma-informed questioning; due process; and the intersections of Title IX, the Clery Act, and the Campus SaVE Act.

In addition to the presentation, attendees had opportunities for open question and answer sessions, including identifying a positive occurrence from their own campus related to Title IX.

“Most of the responses that were shared indicated that there is a lot of really great work happening on these campuses,” Valerie Mercado, IUP’s Title IX coordinator, said. “It also indicated that there is a positive outlook on how we are handling these issues, and that campuses are approaching solutions as a team. Today was a great day for learning and working together on how to move forward and navigate these complicated and important issues.”
