Samuel Richards, a History Department alumnus (2004), has just published The Middle Holds: A History of St. Thomas' Episcopal Church, Canonsburg, and the Community it Serves.

The book explores the history of the Episcopalian community of Charters Valley from the founding of St. Thomas the Apostle Episcopal Church (Canonsburg, Pa.) to the present. Richards’ study draws on research in the parish archive and the Archives of the Episcopal Diocese of Pittsburgh, as well as oral histories. The appendices includes unedited archival material relating to the parish, including the early Register of Baptisms.
