Psychology's Krys Kaniasty was a member of an international group of trauma researchers, led by Professor Ben-Ezra (Ariel University, Israel), that published two papers examining associations between post-traumatic shifts in people's political, social, and world views with psychological distress.

The first study investigated public reactions to a series of coordinated terrorist attacks that occurred on Friday 13, November 2015, in Paris, France ("Psychological reactions following the November 2015 Paris attacks: Perceiving the world as unjust and unsafe." Journal of Clinical Psychiatry, in press). The second study concentrated on psychological impact of the combined terrorist and hate crime attack that targeted a nightclub in Orlando, Florida, on June 12, 2016 ("Shattering core beliefs: Psychological reactions to mass shooting in Orlando." 2017, Journal of Psychiatric Research).
