Students to Share Experiences from the National Student Exchange

Posted on 11/23/2016 10:14:15 AM

Have you thought about taking part in the National Student Exchange? Would you like to hear from students who have participated in this great opportunity? If so, please join us on Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at 6 p.m. in the HUB Monogahela Room.

The University of Colorado-Colorado Springs is where Jazmyn, who exchanged for an academic year, and Amy, who exchanged for one semester, created some great memories! Ariana spent a semester at the University of Kentucky, where she experienced southern hospitality! Those are just two of the 200 universities in the NSE Program throughout the United States, Puerto Rico, Guam, Canada, and the Virgin Islands that are part of the program.

William, who is currently attending the University of Montana, said, "So I really wanted to do this semester in Montana to not only see how I would do with no familiar faces around, but to see if Missoula is a place I would like to live after school and to experience a different way of life. I believe I accomplished all of those. I think the whole NSE experience (for me at least) was not about academics but about seeing and experiencing a different part of the world. I think I accomplished what I set out to do and have realized that Missoula is indeed a place I would like to live after school. Instead of spending just a week of vacation here, spending a semester got me to think about how life is lived here for its residents, not just the students. As far as the University of Montana as a school, I think it is top tier among the universities in the region. I have really taken an interest in outdoor recreation class as this area is a hotbed for outdoor recreation and everything that goes into it. The business school is on par with IUP's in my opinion, nice building, good staff, and manageable work. I have found a couple volunteer opportunities that are going great, and again the outdoor recreation is world class!"

If you are unable to attend the information session but want to learn more, please contact the NSE Coordinator Jan Shellenbarger at 724-357-2235 or and schedule a meeting. Application deadline for Fall 2017 and Spring 2018 exchange is mid-February.
