The English Department and Sustainability Studies are cosponsoring an upcoming visit on Thursday, October 27, 2016, by filmmaker and journalist Melissa Troutman. Troutman is currently producing a documentary on fracking’s environmental impacts on communities in Pennsylvania.
On Thursday, October 27, Troutman, a graduate of IUP’s English program, will talk with classes and visit with students and faculty during the day. At 6:00, she will give a formal presentation followed by a Q&A.

In addition to Thursday’s events, Troutman will also screen her new film, Invisible Hand, on Friday evening at 6:30 in the Humanities and Social Sciences building, room 225. Prior to the screening, Troutman will speak on a panel featuring speakers from Grant Township to discuss the struggle there to block a fracking injection well.
Troutman’s visit promises to stimulate a valuable discussion as we chart our future in this region.
Sustainability Studies is cosponsoring this event with the Indiana Center for Community Growth.
