Matt Bellassai 2016STATIC presents An Evening with Matt Bellassai, live in the HUB Ohio Room, on Thursday, October 27. Doors will open at 7:00 p.m., and the show will begin at 8:00 p.m.

Both I-Card and public tickets are still available. All tickets can be purchased at the HUB Box Office or online . Tickets are $5 with an I-Card or $10 for the general public.

Matt Bellassai first gained popularity by hosting the weekly Buzzfeed series, Whine About It, in which he would drink an entire bottle of wine and then offer his observations, complaints, and jokes about some mundane piece of the real world. On Whine About It, Bellassai spoke passionately about autumn, coworkers, roommates, couples, and the worst people on airplanes.

According to his official biography:

“(He) wore such titles as Mathletes’ Most Valuable Player, President of the Science Club, and First Place Champion in the 2006 South Suburban Science Invitational’s Insect Identifying Contest. Which is not a joke.”

At Northwestern University, Matt ran for student body president and lost. He graduated in 2012 with a degree in journalism.

According to his biography, Matt then joined BuzzFeed as a comedy writer and was Employee of the Month for 39 straight months. A year later, In 2015, he co-created, wrote and produced the web series “Whine About It.”

In January 2016, he was awarded the first ever People’s Choice Award for Favorite Social Media Star. Early that same year, Matt left BuzzFeed to pursue solo projects and has since launched a weekly web series, “To Be Honest,” and a stand-up comedy tour.

His biography adds that “he is currently working on a forthcoming scripted web series, book, television series, and podcast. He is also working on his tan.”
