Eberly College of Business and Information Techonology’s AMIS Club Gets Off to a Strong Start

On Tuesday, September 6, 2016, IUP’s Association of Management Information Systems (AMIS) held its first membership recruitment event on the lawn of Eberly College. AMIS recruited 20 new members that day, making the event an overall success.

The Association of Management Information Systems (AMIS) club promotes safety, security, and excitement towards technology and how it can be used to enhance people’s lives. Their mission is to provide a forum for IUP students who are interested in the Management Information Systems (MIS) field to learn additional skills and knowledge about MIS, better prepare themselves for MIS careers, and socialize with other students also interested in MIS.

In addition, the AMIS Club held their first Corporate Recruiting Event on Thursday, September 15, 2016 in Eberly College. PNC Bank employees Cheryl Zangaro and Braydon Isett (IUP/MIS alum), came to talk to the students about PNC, their jobs at PNC, and the internship/full time position opportunities they had to offer. They held an informal Q&A session afterwards, answering questions about resumes, interviews, applying, etc. while generously providing the students with pizza and drinks. The event had a great turnout with over 20 AMIS students in attendance.

This first Corporate Recruiting Event was free and open to all IUP students. Anyone who wants to join AMIS must pay the dues of $25/semester or $40/year. AMIS has already scheduled multiple professional, service, and social events for this academic school year. The AMIS Club is open to all IUP Students and is always seeking new members to join.
