A look into how humans live and work in space today and what the future holds is the kickoff for this year’s free Planetarium shows.

On Monday, November 7, Ken Coles of the Geoscience Department will present on the human presence in Earth orbit. The show begins at 7:00 p.m.

This show will be followed by two other scheduled shows over the course of the year (full schedule and information). There will also be a special observance of 50 years of the planetarium sky at IUP in spring 2017. The details of this will be released at a later date.

Each planetarium show will also cover the current positions of stars and planets in the night sky. If weather permits, Coles and students will set up a telescope outside following each show for a brief look at the night sky (evening shows) or the sun (daytime shows).

The planetarium is in the east side of Weyandt Hall (the side away from the Oak Grove). Doors open 15 minutes before showtime.

Seating is limited, and entry to the shows is first-come, first-seated. Please contact Coles at ahead of time to make special arrangements if you want to bring a group.
