Some 60 IUP alumni, all graduates from the Department of Communications Media, are coming back to campus for IUP Homecoming 2016 to meet with and advise current communications media students. The department is hosting an Alumni Networking Event on Friday, October 14, that will bring alumni together with undergraduate students who will be able to get advice on job searching, internship opportunities, and more.
Alumni attending the event have careers in a variety of media and communications areas, including television broadcasting, video production, radio, public relations, social media management, event planning, health communications, and many others. Some of the companies represented at the event include CBS Radio-Pittsburgh, Forever Media, Highmark Health, George Davison Studios, Excela Health, Johnstown Tomahawks, Renda Broadcasting, and WJAC-TV.
B. Gail Wilson, chairperson of the Department of Communications Media, has spearheaded the event. “For me this serves two important purposes. One, to reach out and reconnect with former students; and the other to help current students meet the alumni who are doing the jobs they hope to do one day. There is no better way for our students to learn about job and internship opportunities.”
The Friday afternoon event will be followed by a Communications Media alumni social event at the Rustic Lodge in Indiana. Alumni can register for this event on the IUP Marketplace. More information is available from the Department of Communications Media at 724-357-2492 or by contacting B. Gail Wilson via e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org.
