Poster: STATIC presents Point-Counterpoint: A Debate with CNN ContributorsThe Student Activity Committee (STATIC) invites you to Point-Counterpoint: A Debate with CNN Contributors Dan Pfeiffer and S.E. Cupp . This should prove to be an academically meaningful event for all members of the IUP campus community, and quite relevant given the upcoming presidential election, which is predicted to be one of the most divisive in United States history, between former U.S. Senator and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and businessman and television personality Donald Trump.

Dan Pfeiffer served as senior advisor to President Barack Obama, focusing on communications, political, and digital strategy. One of the President’s longest serving advisors, Dan joined the Obama campaign at the outset, serving first as traveling press secretary and then eventually becoming the campaign’s communications director. He entered the White House as deputy communications director and, by the end of 2009, had risen to communications director. He held that post until his appointment as senior advisor in early 2013. Leaving the White House in 2015, Dan joined CNN as a political commentator, and is currently serving as the vice president of Communications and Policy for GoFundMe.

S.E. Cupp is a nationally syndicated columnist, author, and commentator. She is author of Losing Our Religion: The Liberal Media’s Attack on Christianity and co-author of Why You’re Wrong About the Right. S.E. is a CNN contributor, where she hosts the digital series Outside with Insiders, and a columnist at the New York Daily News. She has been published in the Washington Post, the Detroit Free Press, Politico, and elsewhere. She also consulted on the HBO program, The Newsroom. She appears regularly on television and radio shows, including Real Time with Bill Maher, Fox & Friends, Morning Joe, and others. S.E. serves as a member of the advisory board for the Georgetown Institute of Politics and Public Service.

The event will take place on Thursday, October 6, 2016, in Fisher Auditorium. Doors will open at 6:00 p.m. and the event will begin at 7:00 p.m. This is a free event, and it is open to the entire IUP campus community. Anyone wishing to attend must obtain a (free) ticket from the HUB Box Office, located in the Hadley Union Building.

STATIC will provide attendance vouchers to all individuals at the event. We ask that faculty utilize this event as an instructional tool and offer extra credit to those students attending. For more information, visit the STATIC website.
