Small Business Development Center Participates in Ribbon Cutting for Hemmed Inn

Valerie Davis, a client of the IUP Small Business Development Center, formally cut the ribbon for The Hemmed Inn LLC after an intensive year of work.

The Hemmed Inn is housed in a former church in Cherry Tree, which Valerie renovated and repurposed as a quilters’ retreat. The Hemmed Inn is an oasis away where individuals or groups can retreat from the distractions of their daily life to have uninterrupted time to work individually or with others on creating quilts.

For those of you who think quilting is something they did in the old days, you should know that quilting is a $3.76-billion industry. There are 16 million active quilters in America, or essentially one out of every twenty Americans, of whom approximately 80 percent have attended college.
