Show Support for Students in the Military and Veterans with Dog Tag Program

Faculty and Staff Colleagues,
Coinciding with the start of the new semester, the Military and
Veterans Resource Center (MVRC) is initiating a new program to
help our military-affiliated students identify fellow veterans
and military supporters on campus. This initiative, the
Military and Veterans Resource Center Dog Tag program, provides
IUP faculty and staff with the opportunity to publicly
acknowledge that they have served in the military, are a
dependent and/or spouse of a veteran, or are veteran and
military friendly.
If you would like to acknowledge that you have served in the
military, are a spouse and/or dependent of a veteran, or are
military friendly, the MVRC staff will provide you with a
laminated Dog Tag sign to display on your door, in your office,
or in any place that you want to publicize your commitment to
assisting our military-affiliated students.
Research shows that veterans have a much better chance of
succeeding in college when they are able to connect, not only
with fellow students, but with faculty and staff who have also
served or understand their unique needs.
If you would like a Dog Tag for your office, please e-mail Dr. Cory Shay at cshay@iup.edu and provide the following information.
Name
Veteran/ Spouse/ Dependent/ Military and Veteran Friendly
Branch of Service
The MVRC staff will create your unique Dog Tag and will either
hand deliver it or send it to you through campus mail.
If you have any questions, feel free to contact the MVRC.
Thank you for supporting our military-affiliated students.
