IUP Online Master’s Program in Nutrition Recognized as a Top 10 “Most Affordable” by Healthcare Administrative Degree Programs

Indiana University of Pennsylvania’s master’s program in nutrition has been ranked tenth in the nation by Healthcare Administrative Degree Programs as “Most Affordable Online Master’s in Nutritional Science Degree Programs.”

IUP Online Masters Program in Nutrition Recognized as Top 10 Most AffordableIUP’s program was praised for offering students in-depth details concerning the core concepts of the field, including vitamins, carbohydrates, fats and proteins, and for helping students to learn about conducting research and giving food and nutrition recommendations based on scientific evidence.

The program also was recognized for allowing students to choose between a thesis and a non-thesis track.

IUP’s program also is ranked 15th in the nation by Affordable Colleges Online, an education and industry resource for online education information. Programs were ranked based on number of online master’s degrees available at the institution, graduate tuition and fees, academic and career counseling services, job placement for graduates and an online peer-based value, comparing the cost of each program to the cost of similar programs with the same qualitative score. 

“It is very gratifying to see external, unbiased organizations continue to recognize IUP’s program for its quality and affordability,” Dr. Stephanie Taylor-Davis, IUP faculty member in the Department of Food and Nutrition and graduate coordinator, said.

“Our master’s degree in Food and Nutrition provides a high quality, flexible, affordable opportunity for those who would like to complement their existing knowledge with a specialization in nutrition, or to advance those practicing as registered dietitians in the workplace.

“Graduates are able to advance their careers by completing the program as quickly as 18 months or on a part-time basis with up to five years to fulfill degree requirements.  Graduate assistantships (compensated with a tuition waiver and stipend) provide an additional professional development opportunity for students who can work on campus."

IUP’s online degree focuses on human and applied nutrition, critical for real-life situations. Graduates of the program are prepared to provide leadership that influences and contributes to the food and nutrition arena, translate important nutrition information to the public and utilize new knowledge to lead the battle against nutrition-related chronic diseases and toward nutrition and wellness.
