David Chambers, Department of Political Science, is serving as a faculty leader for the Washington Center's 2016 Conventions Program. He is at the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia, accompanied by six IUP students.

The students are Ethan Hurst, a political science-pre-law major from Mt. Pleasant; Chelsea Johnson, a journalism and public relations and marketing major from Martinsburg; Emilee Larkin, a journalism and public relations major from Harwick; Lauren Qoyawayma, an international relations major from Allison Park; Jada Richardson, a journalism and public relations major from York; and Jacqueline Viscusi, a journalism and public relations major from Coatesville.

Students from all over the nation are in the program, which includes a competitive application process.

In addition to being at the conventions, in the days before the conventions begin, students attend large-group lectures by notable persons and small-group discussions with the faculty leaders.

Participating students submit journal entries to the faculty leaders for evaluation and grades (students earn academic credit for the experience).
