Lorraine Guth, professor in the Department of Counseling, recently participated in White Earth Reservation Institute for Education that was sponsored by the National Board of Certified Counselors International (NBCC-I).

She traveled to the White Earth Reservation in Minnesota, where she learned more about the history of this Native American culture, experienced how Native American beliefs/practices are being incorporated into appropriate counseling services, engaged in cultural activities, participated in traditional ceremonies, and gained an understanding of working with Native American communities. She also took part in the White Earth Nation's annual pow-wow celebration.

Guth is grateful for the Pennsylvania State System Faculty Professional Development Council award that was used to fund this career enhancement experience.
