May 2016 economics graduate Jennifer Johnson was one of four undergraduate students invited by the School of Graduate Studies and Research to represent IUP at the Undergraduate Research at the Capitol–Pennsylvania event, held on April 5, 2016, in Harrisburg, Pa.

She presented her award-winning project, titled "Determinants of Per Capita Electricity Consumption at the State Level," from the 2015 IUP Undergraduate Scholars Forum.

According to its webpage, the Undergraduate Research at the Capitol–Pennsylvania poster conference “...is an educational event allowing the undergraduate students enrolled in Pennsylvania’s colleges and universities to showcase their research talents to the Commonwealth’s key decision-makers.”

A total of 64 undergraduate students representing 32 colleges and universities from across the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania participated.

Jennifer’s faculty advisor, James J. Jozefowicz, reported that her paper was the only example of economics research in the poster session.

Jennifer had the opportunity to discuss her work with the 2016 IUP Distinguished Alumni Award recipient and mathematics/economics graduate, Representative Dave Reed ('00), in the East Wing Rotunda of the Capitol Building.
