Chad Betoney, a 2015 graduate of IUP with a master’s degree in Safety Sciences, recently won a $150 Amazon gift card after responding to the graduate survey conducted each year by the Career and Professional Development Center.
Zac Saeva, assistant director of the center, said the graduate destination survey is a helpful resource to demonstrate the quality experience of IUP graduates, and the information is utilized both within the Career and Professional Development Center and with prospective students and employers.
“Without this data, it is challenging to demonstrate the outcomes of an IUP education,” Saeva said, “So we highly encourage recent graduates to fill out the survey.”
Saeva also encourages alumni and current students to make use of the resources offered by the Career and Professional Development Center, such as resume reviews, career fairs, and networking events. Betoney agreed, saying, “Take advantage of all of the services IUP has to offer from a professional, social, and academic standpoint. Use your time wisely to leverage all of the opportunities available to you during your collegiate experience.”
Betoney encourages current students to make sure they get the most out of their college career. “I cannot tell you how invaluable a strong professional network can be when entering and advancing in the workforce,” he said. “Meet with professors during office hours, join a study group, and keep in contact with peers after graduation. A strong network will pay dividends in the future!”
